Robert W. Gadtke, JD, CFP®

Rob helps clients make sense of complex financial decisions and bring the different parts of their financial lives together.

 

As an attorney and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional at ISC Financial Advisors, he works with lawyers, executives, business owners, and other high-income professionals whose planning often involves more than just investments. Tax strategy, retirement decisions, estate planning, charitable giving, and legacy goals can all overlap, and Rob helps clients understand how those pieces fit together.

 

Before joining ISC, Rob practiced law for approximately 15 years. That experience still shapes how he approaches financial planning today: understand the facts, identify the important questions, coordinate with the right professionals, and explain the choices clearly.

 

Rob has a particular interest in working with attorneys and other busy professionals. He understands how easy it is to spend years focused on clients, careers, and family while allowing personal financial decisions to remain unfinished or disconnected.

 

He joined ISC in 2024, initially overseeing firmwide trading before moving into a broader advisory role. Today, Rob works closely with Charlie Achterkirch and the ISC team on more complex planning situations, particularly those involving taxes, estate planning, and multigenerational wealth and legacy decisions.

 

His legal background gives him a useful perspective when clients need to coordinate among advisors, CPAs, estate planning attorneys, and other professionals. Rob doesn't replace those advisors. Instead, he helps clients understand how the recommendations from each discipline interact and works to keep the overall plan moving in the same direction.

 

Rob earned his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2003 and his undergraduate degree from Drake University in 2000. Currently, he is completing advanced tax-planning coursework through The American College of Financial Services.
